Beer……pubs and stuff.

Covid 19 has of course stopped all of us from visiting our local Black Country pubs.

I am a big fan of this pastime and like many of us, I look forward to resuming visiting my locals in Stourbridge, hopefully in the next few weeks, albeit with the Social Distancing caveat of course.

Found a great website though, which historically records pubs in our region that have been lost to time. I believe the webmaster also authors the ‘Ales and Tales’ Stourbridge and Halesowen Camra seasonal magazines ‘Lost Pubs’ article.

Anyroad, its here: Hitchmough’s Black Country Pubs

..and I’m a big fan. You can download lists of boozers that were in your area from years ago….some of them still exist, and gives information of the licensees, and the pubs location.

In fact, I think I have found an ancestor of mine who ran the Horse and Jockey pub in Netherend, Cradley at the turn of the century…one Henry Jabez Herrin who has got to be a great great uncle of mine.

Love the Beermat section too….Hansons, Banks’s Holdens and of course Bathams are all represented.

Fantastic site if you are interested in our local public houses and their history – worth paying a visit.
